My creative poem about primary school life
Masterpiece
I remember my first year at school
where my zipper refused to go
It was a real tragedy as I really needed the loo
Still the artillery had to be let loose
and boy did the chappies guffawed
I remember my second year at school
where I met my first paper where I failed the rise above the "C"
Boy were my parents pissed
They hissed and nagged and whacked
till I was sore and dreary all over
I remember my third year at school
where I met the needle
it was a real shame when it made me weep
And the worst part was
Not even the girls did
I remember my fourth year at school
where I faced my first separation with my classmates
I lost my best friend and my friends
And met a whole new group of strangers
It was like the beginning of school again
I remember my fifth year at school
where exams suddenly got a whole lot tougher
And the school's excuse was that it was to get us better prepared
for the exam of our lives
After that year I had probaly met the cane a hundred times
I remember my last year at school
where nothing was ever bright again
how I yearned the days when I was P1
to be able to tell myself
Hey it is 6 more years until the big day
School is a dreadful place
You are never free
with a mind that had been wired to score
To be driven on force till you perform
Even now after primary school it is still the same
I remember my first year at school
where my zipper refused to go
It was a real tragedy as I really needed the loo
Still the artillery had to be let loose

Favourite poem
Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.
Figurative language
There are actually many types of figurative language namely, hyperbole, personification, metaphor, simile and symbolism. In this case there is no hyperbole involved but there are some personification here. For example "the dark street winds and bends", "smoke blows black", "where the chalk white arrows go" The writer probaly used this figurative language so as to try to add some life to the poem by making some of the actions carried out by non - living things seem like it is carried out by humans. Instead of saying the dark street was curvy, the writer uses a verb and says it winds and bends.
The next figurative languaage is a metaphor. Here are a few examples from the poem, "peppermint wind", "crimson bright", "soft and white". The writer used this as something like a gauge. For example "peppermint wind", it is actually trying to show just how cool the wind was, as cool as peppermint. Also it desribed how bright the sun was and how supple the grass were. As for the figurative language simile, it is just like metaphor except it must be linked to the word with "as... as...". So in this case there is no simile.
The last figurative language is symbolism which is the most complicating of them, it is actually a phrase or a word that symbolizes emtion, thing, etc. (Not to be confused with metaphor.) Some examples of symbolism would be "asphalt flowers", "chalk - white arrows". The asphalt flowers, which is the road, symbolizes just how ridden of nature the city is and the chalk white arrows, the white strips on the road, also mean the same thing.
Why I like this poem
Firstly I like this poem as there is a lot of interpreting that had to be done while reading the poem. Also it seemed to carry a message unlike the other the poems which was to save the beauty of nature. Also the way they conveyed this message was really elegent where they first start of by describing all the beautiful things about nature, of the birds, greenery and the sun. Then they move on to describe how gloomy the city is by talking about how sad the people are by their footstep and artificial flowers (asphalt flowers). The title was also very catchy and also required a lot of thinking to actually figure out what it meant. All in all the reason why I liked the poem is because there had to be a lot of thinking unlike other poems which were pretty staright foward.

Comparism between rural and urban life.
Work
In a rural lifestyle the people have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to start a hard day's work either fishing, farming or doing some other agriculture work as in a rural area there really is not much education. As for the urban lifestyle they also do wake up early but most of the people of such a lifestyle usually work at the desks and do paperwork. The salary of the workers of the different lifestyle also differ with the people doing agriculture ranging the most as the work they do largely depend on the weather whereas the work people of the urban lifestyle do is rather fixed. But there are also some similarities. For example even in a developed area there are still people who are blue collar workers who still have to work under the sun and wake up really earl such as construction workers. There are also some people whose salaries vary as they do businesses and it depends on whether people need their products. It is especially for people who sell winter wear as people only start buying their products during the winter solstice.
Education
In the education area many things are similar in terms of the two lifestyles. The people of the different lifestyles still learn how to count figures, read and write. Except that in an urban lifestyle more emphasis is place on education, people in such a lifestyle have much better facilities, have competitions, etc. Also in an urban lifestyle most people learn till university but as for a rural lifestyle most of the people drop studying after primary school education to help out in the fields. Also in the things they teach differ with the urban lifestyle learning things that help them survive in a world where everyone is competing against everyone else like critical thinking and independence. Whereas in a rural lifestyle none of these is taught, only basic things like grammar, reading, writing and arithmetic.
Lodging and family
For lodging in an urban lifestyle the houses are very nicely decorated, nice walling and also with every thing inside like entertainment and toilets. Unlike in rural lifestyle with the houses without decorations, without entertainment devices and even without toilets. This is because most people living in rural areas cannot be bothered with decorating their houses with all the other things they have to worry about. They only regard their home as a place for shelter and nothing else. They also do not build their sanitation areas inside the homes as they do not have drainage systems and do not wish to pollute their homes. As for a typical urban families, both the parents are the breadwinners while the mother has an extra role which is being the home keeper while the children are just there to learn and have fun. But in the rural areas most families are a bit more different with both the father and sometimes the children helping out with the fishing or farming jobs as there is too much for the parent. While the mother is the home keeper. But there is one scenario which is similar for both lifestyles which is having a dysfunctional family. That means to have one or both parents unable to work and thus the jobs of sustaining the family is tossed to the children. Although this is more common in the rural areas there are also such things in the urban areas.

The Village by the Sea presentation
Role
Our role for the Village by the Sea presentation was the Environmentalists.
Contributions
Basically the environmentalists consist of a few characters that were against the idea of building the string of factories. Some of the environmentalists include Sayyid Ali Sayyid and Adarkar. Adarkar was the leader of the group which was protesting against building a factory in Thul and Sayyid Ali Sayyid was joining him. They reckoned that if such a thing were to happen the effluents from the factory would poison their lands and in turn their crops and poison their sea and in turn their fishes. Also if such a thing were to happen they would not be able to live as they depended on sea and land for their livelihood. Both also reckoned that even if they were to be able to find jobs after that, they would be given the most ill - paid jobs like working as coolies and sweepers as they do not have any qualifications. Thus Adarkar who was joined by Sayyid Ali Sayyid brought the villagers with him to go to protest against the government from using their precious land to build factories that will poison their crops and the sea.
Reflections
Personally I feel that the construction of the factory will not be such a bad thing. Yes, it is true that the villagers might lose their crops and the fish because of it but only might. I mean it is only an assumption that the environmentalists were making, the factory workers only might dump the waste from the factories into the sea and onto the land. Moreover the probability of them doing such a thing would be lower after catastrophes like the mercury poisoning incident as a result of this as the factory now knows the consequences of such a thing. Also the building of a factory might benefit the villagers than make their life worse as it is better to work in a factory than in the fields or out fishing. This is because it is really tiring to work in the fields, the villagers would have to work very long hours under the hot sun. The job also depends mostly on the weather or in other words, your luck. Should there be a monsoon the fishermen would not be able to sail for the fear of strong winds and the fields would be flooded. There are also many other weather conditions to consider other than just monsoons so it is really up to your luck on whether you will earn money or gain nothing and instead incur losses. Whereas if you were to work as a coolie or a sweeper, your pay might be low as per compared to other jobs offered in the factory but at least you have a monthly pay unlike farming or fishing where it depends on whether you strike it lucky. But if such a thing were to happen I feel that the villagers should just adapt and acquire new skills to help them earn some money in the factories like what Hari did.

Alice in Wonderland the movie
What I liked about the movie
Well in the movie I am finally able to see how Alice grows when she eats something and how she shrinks when she eats something, this is very nice to see as in the book I can only picture how it may look like. Also in the movie there was a lot of tension and fighting scene which is integral to a good movie so it was quite eye - catching too. Also the producers still managed to keep the movie original with other characters such as the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, the Knave, etc. appearing and not adding in too many other characters. It was also quite a good continue from the previous movie with the Wonderland creatures wanting Alice back to help them but it gets a bit complicated from there.
What I disliked about the movie
As said from the above, after Alice returns to Wonderland it starts to get complicating. Firstly she realises there is more than one Mad Hatter, then she realises she must get a all - mighty sword to slay some divine monster but along the way she must save the Mad Hatter who had been captured. All in all it is unlike the book version where the storyline is Alice has fallen down a hole where it leads to a Wonderland and she must get out. Also the Alice in this story is unlike the previous Alice who is always curious, whereas this Alice seems to be following a script where she has to achieve things now instead of just wandering about this land and finding a way out. Also the Mad hatter does not seem as mad as before which causes it to be less original than before, there also seems to be less exploring of the Wonderland.
Differences
As stated in the above, Alice has changed in terms of curiosity which means that there is a great deal less exploring than the book. Also in the the book it used to be more suited for children with cute - looking talking animals and weird foods that cause someone to shrink or grow. Whereas in the movie it is less childlike with the Mad Hatter turning much more serious than before and slaying of creatures.

Is the Village by the Sea an adventure story?
Adventure story pattern
Problem
Hari's family is in a state of poverty.
Solution
Hari decides to go to Bombay to find Mr. da Silva and ask him for a job and bring home some money so that his family can sustain.
Obstacles
Mr. de Silva was not in Bombay anymore as he had returned to Thul and Hari was at loss of what to do.
Meet someone who helps him
Hari caught the attention of the Seabird watchman, Hira Lal, and Hira Lal brought him to Jagu who helps take care of Hari and offers him a job. Later Hari also meets Mr. Panwallah who offers him a job as a watch mender and that allowed him to earn some more money.
Comes home ...
Hari arrives home with his earnings and his family is finally able to afford the necessities such a large family needs.
Is The village by the Sea very much like an adventure story?
Well in my opinion I think the Village by the Sea is very much not like an adventure story as the time Hari's adventure (as can be seen above) took place Lila herself was also having an adventure which was unheard of in an adventure story with two adventures taking place. Even so Lila's adventure was not even an adventure, for example when she was finding the medicine man. Yes, she meets a problem which was that her mother's illness was getting worse and Lila finds a solution which was to find Hira Bai whom had some medical herbs with her and ask for her help, the obstacle was that she had run out, the person they met that "helped" them was the medicine man Hira Bai had asked them to see. But in the end the medicine man never did help them and Lila's mother was still ill. This proves that Lila did not even have an adventure back in Bombay and thus shown that the Village by the Sea is not an adventure story as only Hari was having an adventure and the other main characters were not. But at least the last part of the book was like an adventure story where there was evidence that there would be a part two where the factory would be built and Hari had to find other ways to sustain his family.

Fairy tale pattern vs. Village by the Sea
Fairy tale - The Princess and the pea
Protagonist in unhappy situation
The Village by the Sea - Hari and Lila's family is in a state of poverty with their father being a drunkard, their mother ill and two simblings to take care of.
Fairy tale - A prince who sets out to find a princess but cannot seem to find the perfect one.
The situation worsens
The Village by the Sea - Hari runs off to Bombay to find a job leaving Lila to care for the household, Mother's illness worsens, Pinto is killed by the Khanekar brothers and they threaten to kill the the girls.
Fairy tale - The prince is unable to find a suitable princess and comes home sulking as he wanted a princess so badly.
Protagonist receives unexpexted help
The Village by the Sea - Hari finds a job in Bombay and receives a monthly salary, Lila and her two sisters are offered jobs fom the de Silvas and the de Silvas later bring their mother to the hospital while their father stops drinking toddy to take care of their mother.
Fairy tale - A princess enters the prince's castle to seek shelter from a storm and the Queen decides to test if she was really a princess by seeing how delicate her skin was by putting a pea beneath twenty matresses and the princess still felt the pea proving she was a princess as only princesses had such delicate skin.
Protagonist is rescued from unhappy situation
The Village by the Sea - Hari brings home his earnings and brings some happiness to the family for a while and his mother is cured and his father stops drinking.
Fairy tale - The prince marries princess and they live happily ever after.
Parts left out in the Fairy tale pattern in The Village by the Sea
For one the part where Hari's family lives happily ever after is left out. Unlike the Princess and the pea story where the situation is completely resolved and the prince found a princess and such a problem shall nver occur again, it is different for Hari and his family. After solving the current problem which is curing his mother's illness and rescuing his family from poverty, there is still the problem of the factory to worry about. To counter this problem Hari has to find another job in Thul other than fishing and farming as the factory would poison the land and sea ridding the land of fertility and the sea of its fishes. in this case Hari has acquired the skill of watch mending which might help him earn some money should the people from the factories come once the factory is built allowing him to earn some money. Still this might not help Hari earn enough money and he and his family might just fall into poverty again, so this is not like a fairy tale as it does not necessarily be a "happily ever after".

Advantages and disadvantages of the Amish lifestyle
Advantages
One of the most apparent advantages of such a lifestyle is that there is no separation within families as they do not become attached to machines and technology and depend on their fellow people which makes them rather nice and east - going. They are also very hardworking as they do not depend on machines to help them do their farm work and thus are well - built and less prone to obesity problems. They are also able to improvise well as they have to make use of what little resources they have to help them work since they do not make use of machinery which allows them to cope better when faced with problems that pertain to a lack of resources. Also they are not prey to power shortages as they make so little use of electricity and if they were to face problems such as shortage of oil it would not really matter to them. Also if they were faced with inflation it would not affect the Amish as they grow their own food. The Amish are also very bonded and virtuous which means that the crime rates in an Amish settlement is close to none. Another advantage is that there is very little stress for the Amish for money and other treasures as they are not allowed to possess expensive things such as cars and they buld their own houses and grow thier own food, get water from the wells and the education fees are very low. The only thing they need to purchase is thread to sew their clothes and other resources to build their carts and so on.
Disadvantages
Since the Ordnung prohibits them from possessing technologically advanced materials the Amish are unable to make use of such machines to help them with their farming which will surely hinder their productivity. But the Amish are still able to keep up with the productivity as they work long hours but that might cause the Amish to tire and lead to Amish falling ill easily. Also with the restrictions to education, the Amish will be unable to learn things like critical thinking which might be useful should they meet up with a problem like droughts and have to negotiate with other terrortories to give them some water. Also since most of the Amish economy is dependent on agriculture thus if a natural disaster like a flood or drought were to occur then they would not be able to grow anything and their only source of economy will fall and they will face an economic disaster. They also do not have any defense such as guns against hostile forces such as terrorist attacks and thus will be an easy target. The Amish will also not be able to cope with the global changes such as global warming and prevent them as they are too primitive and thus will be unable to solve such problems. There might also be a mass extinction of the Amish should a pandemic hit their land as they are also not medically advanced and thus are vulnerable to such attacks.
Opinion
In my opinion I do not think the Amish civilisation will last as even though there are many advantages to their lifestyle there are more major and serious disadvantages to their lifestyle. As if they were to live a life like this yes, thier life will be better as they have less problems as per compared to the mainstream civilisation, such as economic disasters, more joblesss people and so on. But all these problems can be solved by us as we have gone through better education than the Amish and thus are able to find solutions. As for the Amish their problems can be started just by a simple thing like a monsoon or drought and the damage will be more large - scale as their life depends on one thing and that is agriculture. So they are quite dependent on their land and the weather which is not a good thing with our current global warming problem which causes freak weather. Also they will not be able to easily solve their problems as they do not have critical thinking.

Amish lifestyle
Work
The Amish depend mostly on agriculture for salary. They were rather good at it as most Amish took their job rather seriously as you can see from the Philosophy section. They also refrain from using machines such as tractors and stick to using more of the primitive machines such as horse drawn machines, etc. Still over time the Amish introduced more technologically advanced machines to aid with their farm work such as power feed grinders and an electricity making windmill but still did not allow the use of tractors as they believed that it was like a personal item and that would not show integrity (read more on the Philosophy section). Instead they allowed non - motorised vehicles so as to increase productivity and only allowed machines to be horse - drawn so as to preserve their Amish culture. Even with all these limitations, the Amish still produced quite high - quality products as they were very good at improvising and making use of their practical knowledge to help increase productivity and were also extremely hardworking.
Education
For the Amish education it is actually a rather good system if you are into the area of agriculture as it teaches it students all the skills that make a good farmer, carpenter, etc. In fact the Amish church forbid their children from learning through the mainstream education as it teaches children about individualism, evolution, etc. (Learn more about this in the Philosophy section) Thus children are taught in Amish schools comprising of one - room which caters for their education up to the eighth grade. But in 1950's the government imposed a law stating that students must be educated beyond the eighth grade and taught mainstream subjects. This was a major problem for the Amish as as stated in the above statement that if the Amish were to develop critical thinking they might question Amish church and do other "un - Amish" things. To counter this problem the Amish church proposed an idea that allows a student to be taught by the Amish system of education but allows the young Amish to be taught once a week in vocational schools which only teaches the Amish basic subjects such as Math and other languages. Only in 1971 did the U.S. Supreme Court allow the young Amish to stop studying at the eighth grade. religion was also taught but it was not taught in schools as the Amish church felt it was too important to be taught in schools and only permitted it to be taught by their parents at home or be taught at church.
Recreation
There are many things Amish do for recreation and they differ for different age groups. But one of the most common form of entertainment is the making of big quilts and making items out of quilts. This way not only will the Amish get satisfaction out of making something with their hands but also show off their arts skills. The quilts themselves are also of some use, they are usually used when there are big family gatherings as tablecloths or just hung up as decorations. Some other activities include helping out with the barn work which the Amish children seem to enjoy as Amish love work and since there are no video games, hands - on activities were one of the most entertaining thing they could do. This is also beneficial as the children can prepare themselves for adulthood where they have to do farming. Another one of the more common recreation activities would be family gatherings where there will be a big dinner and everyone would just sit around and socialize. This is integral as Amish believe strongly in bonding and union. But the most exciting past time would be barn raising where everyone lends a hand to a farmer who wishes to tear down an old building to build a new one. The cause of this is simply the pleasure gained from being able to smash things with a hammer or a tool.
Philosophy
The Amish is a religious group of people who are against modernization and supports traditional ways. they also believe strongly in modesty. Thus Amish people mostly dress in very plain clothes of dull colours and are allowed to keep only a few simple hairstyles. But the most important thing that all Amish have to know is that union is the most important aspect of their lives. That single piece of thinking is what differentiates the Amish from our civilisation and what shapes their lifestyle. Allow me to list you some rules that have been imposed because of this thinking and this rules are called the Ordnung which is the name for the set of rules. One of the rules include the prohibition of modern technology as it might promote inequality and individualisation which might cause families to move further apart as they interact less. Which is why tractors are not use to help with farming as it is viewed as a personal machine and with the introduction of such machines the family member will get dependent on his machine and not consult his family for help on cultivating or harvesting crops. Many other modern technology such as light bulbs, telephones, etc. were also prohibited but only after some time were some of these pieces of technology allowed. As for the telephone it was not exactly prohibited but it had to be shared between many households so as to make sure that everyone had a telephone and not have inequality among the people. Another rule in which they implemented would be that all Amish people should not be educated by mainstream educators and should be educated by Amish citizens as they do not want the values from the modern world such as competition, evolution, etc. so as to prevent them from being too selfish and oppose the Amish traditions when they develop critical thinking.

Lamb to the slaughter(Jack Noonan notes)
Patrick Maloney was found to be died the moment we entered. Mary Maloney was standing beside him, crying hysterically, yet a little unnaturally. What she said sounded quite deliberate. However, when we contacted and got information from the grocer, she was actually quite stable, cheerful and normal when she was buying the groceries. She really wanted to give her husband a good supper and even asked for advice for what to cook. It was not possible that she was the murderer. She even offered us some lamb, and were hospitable to us throughout. However, she did not display sadness at some parts, and was over friendly and cheerful when she offered us food. Then, at the end, she was seen giggling in her room, which adds on to my suspicion.
I would definitely list her down as a suspect. This could possible be an elaborate plot for her to escape from the crime, as she knows what the punishments for murder are. According to my experience, such cases have happened before, especially when someone is deeply affected. Evidence about what Patrick Maloney needs be found out.

Singapore Free Press – HEADLINES: Wife of police detective arrested after murdering her husband
Yesterday around evening time, the wife of police detective, Patrick Maloney, was arrested for murdering her husband. According to Jack Noonan, detective on duty, the accused, Mrs. Mary Maloney, had killed her husband with a frozen leg of lamb. Sounds weird? It is true, as said by Jack. “When Mary offered us the leg of lamb that she was going to cook for supper, I realised that the soup was stained with a tinge of red. Looked closer, and we realised that the leg of lamb also had red stains on it. When we took samples for testing, we discovered that the blood belonged to Patrick. Since Mary was the person who cooked the lamb, she was the prime suspect. Upon interrogation, she totally broke down and started sobbing hysterically. That gave her away,”said Jack Noonan. Still there was something missing, when we hired a local forensics scientist to look for clues. He deduced that the murder should have taken place before 6 ‘o clock as the blood stains were found to have clotted around that time. But according to local grocer, Mary Maloney still seemed pretty chirpy when she came down to buy her grocery. Obviously Mary must have been trying to cover up her tracks by acting natural.
After interviewing her neighbours, our reporter found out that Mary was a kind soul who would not even harm a fly. So what could have happened? Apparently. Patrick Maloney must have done something to provoke her and it must have been really serious to drive Mary to killing her husband. There are many possibilities but the most probable is that Patrick cheated on Mary. But why would Patrick leave his six month old pregnant wife? Why would such a well – to – do person do such a despicable thing? This how you can never judge a book by its cover. The future looks bleak for Mary as the sentence for murder is death. But then again she did have a good reason to murder her husband; will the court allow a milder punishment? Still it is too early into investigation to tell anything, but probably the deepest concern is the unborn child. Will Mary abort the child or will the child become an orphan? Stay tuned to the Singapore Free Press for more.

Lamb to the slaughter HW(Being the judge)
Judge's arguments for Mary being accused of the murder of Patrick:
1. She destroyed the evidence by letting the detectives eat the “murder weapon”.
2. She betrayed her husband although he offered to still take care of her.
3. She tricked the detectives and Sam.
4. She killed Patrick without any reason.
5. She concealed the murder from the authorities.
Judge's arguments against Mary being accused of the murder of Patrick:
1. It was Patrick’s fault as he wanted to divorce with her , breaking the wedding oath.
2. Mary was unconscious about what she was doing and accidentally killed Patrick.
3. Patrick should have told Mary earlier before she was pregnant.
4. Patrick should not leave Mary when she was with child as it is also his responsibility to take care of the child.
5. Mary could not control her emotions when she killed Patrick.
6. Mary could not bear the thought that Patrick was going to leave her.
7. Mary did not intend to kill Patrick and it was an accident.

Comparism of Percy Jacson book version and movie version.
There were many differences from the book and movie version. Probaly one of the most prominent one is the age difference of the actors and characters. In the book Percy and Annabeth were supposed to be 12 but in the movie they looked more like 17. Also Grover was supposed to be weak and frail but he did not seem that way in the movie. Some characters were even omitted, one such example is Nancy Bobofit. Also the way Percy Jackson and company had obtained the pearls was through his father, Poseidon, in the book but in the movie he had to fight for the pearls.
This is probaly the best part about the movie in terms of content, instead of earning a direct exit out of the Underworld after confronting Hades, they have to fight for it, which gives the book a great storyline. Also we cannot blame the director for omitting so many parts, after all this is a film, thus cannot go on for too long. Also the director has used nice action - packed scenes to substitute the lack of story content. That is yet another advantage of why movies are better than books. After all pictures speak a thousand words, if you were to read a book you have to imagine how it would look like, unlike a movie.
Now that I have talked about the advantages of the film, lets talk about the disadvantages. In a book there is definitely more room for storyline and it does not cost as much as a film to produce, so you can have a whole series. Also if you had noticed, there was no mention of the Titan lord, Kronos, in the movie, which is the main plot line for the series. If the second book, Sea of Monsters, were to be filmed, those who have never read the book will have a hard time trying to find out what is the flow of events of the whole series.
There is also the concern of the age of the actors. if you observed closely the actors looked more like 17 than 12, if the series were to continue the age difference would become more and more unrealistic.
In conclusion, I feel that the directors of this movie have made many grave mistakes in making this movie, rendering them unable to continue the story. But then again it had all the points a good movie should have. Romance, drama, action and great climax.

Avatar Movie Review (10 questions)
1. What difference is there between the humans and Na'vi?
2.Is this show trying to hint to us something?
3.Why did Jake cross over to the Na'vi side?
4.Why did the humans even want to invade Pandora?
5.In your view, which side was the "good side"?
6.How did the Na'vi "comunicate" with their god?
7.Do you thimk we treat our Mother Nature as well as the Na'vi treat their homeland? Why?
8.Is there some similarities with the Na'vi and humans apart from appearance?
9.Why did the Na'vi agree to add Jake into their"family'?
10.Why was Jake Sully different from other humans?
This is a very good show as it has great graphic designs and a great plotline. But I feel this movie is more than just for entertainment. If you were to see the lush environment on Pandora, it is the total opposite from the Earth, thus I feel that this movie is to give us some environmental awareness. The show has also shown how humans are like, the only reason why the humans invaded Pandora is for the precious rocks which are worth a fortune. Does this remind you of present day human beings? Humans fighting with humans for power and wealth. But the Na'vi are no better, they are also splitted up into tribes. In conclusion I feel that this is a very educational movie as it teaches us about how not to be greedy and harmony.

A short story (Adeline Ng Ai Choo and The Father)
Adeline is a very unfortunate girl, you can tell just by looking at her. Her hair is always unkempt and her attire never fails to reek. You would shudder if you knew what hardships she had to face.
Her father, a spinster, earned a measly amount of money from his "job". His "job" was a loan shark at the "Three Skulls" a notorious gang that roamed the Bishan HDB blocks looking for "clients" such as drug addicts, people in need for loan and more members for the gang. It is a wonder how the neighbourhood police have not nabbed the Three Skulls yet. Adeline's father himself was an alcoholic and thus has a very violent personality, he is agitated by the slightest provocation which is rather unfortunate for Adeline.
As a dyslexic child, Adeline was never really good at her languages and do not even get me started on her other subjects. Every time her father saw her marks he would only see red and I mean literally, her whole paper is covered with red crosses or negative remarks. When her father saw her marks, though uneducated he knew what the term "fail" was, he would use a broken leg from the table and whack Adeline profusely. She would then scream and cry in agony until she does not have enough strength to carry on and she would just fall asleep on the spot. Her father would also have lost the strength to continue hitting her and would return to his room to turn in. By then the wound on Adeline's arm would be a sickly shade of purple with blood slowly oozing out.
Even so Adeline always tried to improve herself, always making an effort to improve her reading but the words kept slipping off the pages due to her dyslexia. She had never passed a single subject in her life, in fact her results was so atrocious that in her six years of education she had been expelled six times. But all that was going to change on that fateful day when her father's actions were finally brought to light.
That fateful day happened to be PSLE release day, before going to school to collect her results Adeline filled a bowl with water and put it in the freezer to numb her body so as to reduce the pain she would suffer when she was going to be beaten up by her father. Adeline's worst fears were confirmed when she saw her PSLE marks, she had failed once again. Although this was no surprise to her she knew that her father would be incensed, the tub of cold water wouldn't be for waste after all.
Her father usually came home around 11 p.m. but that day he came home around midnight, his eyes were bloodshot and his breath stank of alcohol clear evidence that he had been out drinking except that that night he was having a hangover. Adeline prayed that he might have forgotten that today was her PSLE releasal date and was just about to turn in when her father shouted in a husky voice, "Ah girl how much did you score?" Adeline bolted upwards in fright but finally overcame her fears and showed her father the result slip. At first her father had to struggle to try understand the numbers in front of him but soon he realised that Adeline had failed once again. He exploded in rage and advanced on Adeline with anger burning in his eyes, gripping his rattan he was about to whack Adeline when the door was forced opened. In charged three policemen armed with pistols, they all pounced on Adeline's father and pinned him onto the ground.
"You are under arrest for being involved with the illegal activities of the Three Skulls!" a policeman shouted while handcuffing Adeline's father. He tried to struggle but to no avail, the policemen overwhelmed him. Adeline's father had no choice but to follow the policemen for investigation. Adeline herself was brought along with her father to serve as a witness for investigation.
After the incident, Adeline's father was put in jail for drug trafficking and child abuse. Even though now she had none of her parents living with her, Adeline felt free for once as she have to suffer under her father anymore. In the matter of fact, without distractions from her father, Adeline managed to pass her tenth exam.
